Yale Student Social Media Intern

The Justice Collaboratory at Yale Law School is an interdisciplinary group of nationally recognized academics, researchers, and social scientists who have joined together to build a more just, effective, and democratic criminal legal system by advancing public policies that are scientifically proven to build strong and safe communities where all citizens can thrive. Our full-time staff and membership represent a multitude of disciplines including law, history, psychology, medicine, philosophy, management, and political science.

We are a small, tight-knit, and effective team. Everyone at the JC – members, researchers, communications, and operations staff – are committed to our values of justice, community, and collaboration. The people who are happiest and most successful at the JC exercise thoughtfulness, intention, and rigor in their work. The Justice Collaboratory has a dozen full-time staff most of whom work a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) coming into our offices at Yale Law School in New Haven, CT.

Job Description

The Social Media Intern will help amplify the work of the Justice Collaboratory’s member and staff through social media platforms, including TikTok and Instagram. Working under the guidance of the Director of Communications, they will help develop and implement creative strategies to reach nonacademic audiences with original content.

Hours & Location

The intern will be expected to work 5-8 hours per week. While this is a remote position, going into the JC office may be necessary or desired at times.  

Compensation

$15.75 - $16.75 an hour

Specific responsibilities include:

·       Develop Instagram page. (The JC has an existing TikTok account)

·       Develop monthly editorial calendar that includes a minimum of 2 posts per week for TikTok and Instagram.

·       Create 2 posts per week (each post will be posted on both platforms).

·       Engage with both platforms on behalf of the JC (like, comment, etc.)

·       Evaluate and provide recommendations based on the impact and engagement of posts.

Requirements

·       Current Yale undergraduate, graduate or professional student with social media content creation experience, including video editing skills on TikTok and Instagram platforms.

·       Keen attention to detail.

·       Creative thinker.

·       Passionate about working toward a more just criminal legal system.
